If it Doesn't fit..don't force it. Just wait on God! Luke 15:1-24

Updated: Oct 29, 2022

In Luke 15: 1-24, Jesus told the parable about a father and his “lost son.” Some may refer to this passage as the Prodigal Son. The word “prodigal” describes the type of lifestyle that the son chose to live. Prodigal means loose living, or one who spends lavishly and foolishly. What amazes me about this passage is how the son had the nerve to go to his father and ask for his portion of his father’s possessions. And the father complied—without questioning him. Ya’ll know the story, if not …please read it in the Bible. It will bless you.

This is the deal…how often do we demand God (in our prayer) to give us what we think we want! Do your prayer sound like this… “Lord, I decree and declare that this man is my husband, in Jesus Name” And just like the father in the passage, “God says, “Whoop…There it is, you got it!” In the beginning, it appears to be good but when the person began to reveal their real character, you end up just like the prodigal son…eating food fit for swines instead of eating food from your Father’s table.

We must be cognizant of God’s best for us vs. what we THINK is best for us. This knowledge only comes when we exert ourselves in God’s Word and Prayer. This knowledge is obtained when we wait patiently for God to manifest in the mist of our waiting. Just like the prodigal son, we must admit we acted like a fool. It takes a wise person to acknowledge their own mistake and then ask forgiveness. And when we get to that place of humility, our Heavenly Father will do exactly what the father did in this passage. "But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf and kill it and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.”

Ya’ll so much more can be said, but I’m pausing here. Just wait on God! Don’t rush things to make them fit your agenda. God’s agenda for your life is so much better than your agenda for your life. Wait on God. Again, I say wait. God Bless.
