"If my people who are called by Name will humble themselves, pray, seek My face, turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."(2 Chronicles 7:14)
Solomon's obedience to God's command to build the temple pleased God because he built according to God's blueprint. During the dedication service, "the glory of the Lord filled the temple" to the point that the priest couldn't enter in because the glory "of the Lord filled the Lord's house" (v.2).
God remined Solomon that the temple belonged to Him. God gave him the provisions and the people to build it. Every nail, every wall and every floor of the temple belonged to God. It was God's temple. But just when it appeared that everything was good and God was pleased, God gave Solomon a prophetic word (I'm paraphrasing), "WHEN I shut up the heavens when there is no rain....locust devour everything...send a pestilence among MY people...IF my people who are called by My name will..." (v.14).
The key word in this passage is "WHEN" and "IF." God was letting Solomon know when things begin to look unfavorable, don't forget to PRAY! But in order for God to respond, there were conditions that had to be met on behalf of the people: 1.) humble themselves, 2) pray, 3) seek My face, 4) turn from their wicked ways...THEN I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
People of God...PRAY! Pray for your families. Pray for our Pastors/Preachers. Pray for our cities and communities. Pray for our nation and national leaders. We need to pray. Don't allow current events distract you from praying. Things may look unfavorable, but God is still working behind the scenes.
Be blessed!
